These Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies are one of my favorite desserts. Not only are they simple to prepare, but they’re also the TASTIEST cookies with their soft, chewy texture.

Tips for Making the BEST Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies

When it comes to making these cookies, there are a few tips to follow to ensure they come out of the oven just right, every time.

  1. Ensure the butter is at room temperature before preparing these cookies. This is key for that soft, chewy texture! I tend to take my butter out the night before, but if I forget, taking the butter out 45 minutes before starting this recipe will soften it to room temperature.
  2. Use mini chocolate chips. This allows even distribution so each bite contains chocolate.
  3. Allow the cookies enough room to spread when baking. I tend to place two cookies per row.
  4. If you prefer softer cookies, bake for 12-13 minutes. If you prefer firmer cookies, bake them from 14-15 minutes.
  5. Purchase quality tahini! As this is the star ingredient.
  6. Leave the cookies out at room temperature to keep them chewy texture. I’ve noticed that if I throw them in the freezer just to take them out a few days or weeks later, they tend to be crunchier.

Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter room temperature, this is key!
  • 1 cup coconut sugar
  • 1 egg room temperature
  • ½ cup tahini
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • In a bowl, cream together butter and coconut sugar until smooth and slightly fluffy (about 1–2 minutes).
  • Mix in the egg, tahini, and vanilla extract, combining well.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Gradually add to the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Scoop the dough using a 2-tablespoon scoop and place on a baking sheet. Lightly press the tops and sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Bake for 12 minutes.
  • Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 10–15 minutes before transferring. Enjoy!
