How to Make the Sourdough Toast with Jalapeño Butter

The sourdough toast is a quick breakfast meal with just a few simple steps to complete. To prepare this meal, you’ll first want make the bacon as this takes the longest. Review my blog post on how to cook crispy bacon in the oven – the bacon turns out perfect every time! While the bacon is cooking, mix the jalapeño butter together and spread over the sourdough bread. I throw the bread in an air fry countertop oven. However, feel free to also toast your bread in the oven while the bacon is cooking. With around 10 minutes left on the bacon, start preparing the over easy eggs, adding salt and black pepper per preference. Pro tip: keep the eggs extra runny to prevent dryness.

Once the eggs and bacon are done cooking, begin assembling your toast! I find it easiest to add the arugula first, then the bacon, eggs, green onions, and finishing off with drizzling Mike’s Hot Honey on top. That’s all there is to it!

Sourdough Toast with Jalapeño Butter

  • 1 slice sourdough bread
  • 1 tablespoon jalapeño butter
  • 1 small handful organic arugula
  • 4 slices bacon grass-fed
  • 2-3 pasture raised over easy eggs
  • green onions per preference
  • Mike's Hot Honey per preference

Jalapeño Butter

  • 1 tablespoons butter room temperature
  • ½ teaspoon jalapeño


How to Cook Crispy Bacon

  • Preheat your oven to 400° F. Line a baking tray with tinfoil, then place the bacon side-by-side on the tray. Be sure to spread it out, preventing the layering of bacon slices on top of each other.
  • Cook the bacon for 18-20 minutes or until it's reached your desired level of crispiness. Remove the tray from the oven and transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate. Enjoy!

Jalapeño Butter and Sourdough Toast

  • Combine room temperature butter with diced jalapeño. Spread over the sourdough bread and place in an air fryer or oven until crispy.

  • Prepare the over easy eggs. Add black pepper and salt if preferred.
  • Top the sourdough toast with arugula, crispy bacon, over easy eggs, chopped green onions, and Mike's Hot Honey. Enjoy!
