Our reception weekend in Milwaukee, celebrating our first year of marriage!
We had our backyard summer wedding in August of 2022, with our immediate family attending as guests. It was a beautiful weekend filled with laughs, love, and lasting memories.
Without wanting to miss out on creating memories with extended family and friends, we decided to plan our reception for one-year after our wedding ceremony. This was mainly due to our honeymoon plans. And honestly, we wouldn’t change a thing. Not only did our wedding and reception plans allow us to spend more time with family and take more stunning photos, it allowed us to visit with extended family and friends we haven’t seen in years. 🤍
With several of our closest friends driving into town that Friday, we decided to meet up at City Lights Brewery. It was a night filled with beers, apps, and reminiscing on shared memories. And the best part, Klark was able to join in on the festivities!
We stayed at The Journeyman Hotel, a dog friendly hotel with the most stunning views of Milwaukee. This is where our getting ready and gifting photos took place. From here we took our family and wedding party around Third Ward for more group photos – the sneak peek photos from McKenna Marie Photography are stunning! After the group photos, McKenna, Kraig and I ran around Milwaukee taking more stunning photos in several different locations. The weather was absolutely beautiful – 80 degrees and sunny, the perfect summer day!
We then drove to our reception venue, located at Centraal Grand Café & Tappery. We decided on this venue as their menu features an eclectic array of European inspired, made-from-scratch dishes. Not to mention, the venue included the food, drinks, music, bartenders, and decorations within the package. This allowed us to stay well under budget. The food ranged from an artisanal cheese display, to a quinoa, blueberry & brie salad, to a sirloin soba noodle bowl. It was quite the variety!
As the night came to an end, we headed to The Outsider for the afterparty, where the music was loud and the drinks were flowing. The Outsider is the rooftop bar located on top of The Journeyman Hotel. This allowed us to bring all our decorations and gifts back to our room, without having to run around Milwaukee to the next place. If you’ve never been to The Outsider, I highly recommend you visit! It is hands down my favorite place in Milwaukee.
After a late night & too many tequila shots, we forced ourselves to get up early to have brunch with our family at Café Benelux, so we could enjoy a rooftop table. This was the perfect way to end our weekend, as we said goodbye to our loved ones before packing up to head back to Colorado the following day.
Our reception weekend in Milwaukee was filled with wonderful memories we will forever cherish. And I CANNOT wait to see all the photos that came out of this stunning weekend! So thankful for our family and friends who made our first wedding anniversary one we will never forget. 🤍
