These Yogurt Covered Banana Bites are a fun and easy snack. Perfect for summertime as they’re both delicious and refreshing!
This recipe calls for just two ingredients, how simple is that?!
Now, let’s talk about what yogurt to purchase.
When sifting through all the different yogurt brands, always review the food label. Take your time and compare different brands, specifically looking at the protein and added sugar amounts. Plain, unsweetened yogurts do not contain all the added sugars a flavored yogurt will have. For example, a strawberry flavored yogurt may contain 12 grams of added sugar, while a plain, unsweetened flavored yogurt may contain no added sugar. Keep in mind, it’s recommended to consume less than 6 teaspoons or 25 grams of sugar per day. If you consume 12 grams of added sugar in one yogurt serving, that’s already about half the sugar amount for the day.
I tend to purchase Greek yogurt, as it’s higher in protein when compared to non-Greek yogurt. I purchase Stonyfield’s unsweetened, 100% grass fed organic yogurt as the ingredient list is cleaner than others on the market. However, if you’re dairy-free, almond yogurt tends to be higher in protein when compared to other plant-based options without all the added sugar.
Bananas are a nutritious and versatile fruit. They’re high in fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. They may be mixed into baked goods, blended into smoothies, or consumed plain as a quick on the go snack.
Yogurt is now found to be both a dairy and dairy-free product. Always review the nutrition label and ingredient list when buying yogurt – go for the yogurt that is low in added sugar, high in protein, and contains live bacteria.
