Freshly squeezed orange juice is one of the most refreshing beverages! The difference in freshness, quality, and flavor from store bought orange juice is beyond comparison.
Fresh orange juice is a great source of a variety of vitamins and minerals. These include vitamin C, folate, calcium, and potassium. When making your own orange juice, the pulp tends to fall into the juice, adding a good source of fiber!
You can make orange juice with a blender, handheld juicer, or with a countertop juicer such as the one shown in the photo above. Be sure to first properly clean your oranges, then cut them in half. Place the oranges within the juicer, press down, and squeeze as much juice out as possible. Enjoy your freshly squeezed orange juice!
I recommend drinking this orange juice immediately or within 1-3 days for peak freshness. Be sure to store within an airtight glass container within the fridge.
Many store purchased orange juices contain extra ingredients such as added sugars, natural flavors, and preservatives, and have been found to contain PFAs, man-made forever chemicals. When making your own orange juice with organic oranges that have been properly cleaned, you can rest assured you’re consuming a nutrient dense beverage without all the extra junk.
Incorporate this orange juice within your breakfast meal to help boost your immune system. Or use the orange juice as an ingredient within an adrenal cocktail, homemade electrolyte drink, or my Sunset Sweets Mocktail.
Instead of throwing the leftover pulp and peels away, add the pulp to smoothies, baked goods, or add it to a compost bin. Zest the leftover orange peels to baked goods, smoothies, teas, and lemonade, or make candied orange peels.
