Sharing the details of our romantic weekend in the Northwoods. WE’RE ENGAGED!! 💍🤍
Kraig and I’s love story began in August of 2017, when we met at a local college bar during our last year at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. After hearing for years from a mutual friend how similar we were, it wasn’t until that year we realized just how accurate she was. We began dating that December, spending most of our time at the library (100% serious 😂), drinking bloodies, playing pool, and watching scary movies.
After graduating, we both moved down to Milwaukee where Kraig purchased our first fixer upper. We soon realized our love for updating homes and decided to purchase our second fixer upper, with our new sidekick, Klark.
Throughout the years spent together, we always made time to visit one of our favorite places – our family friend’s cabin. We came here as our first travel date, after graduating college, after I passed my exam to become a registered dietitian, and for Kraig’s golden birthday. This cabin holds many memories that are near and dear to our hearts.
When Kraig asked if I wanted to go to the cabin for a weekend, I knew something special was planned. We headed up there Thursday after work, arriving around 9 pm. Per our usual cabin traditions, Kraig built a fire while I poured us a Wisconsin Brandy Old Fashion and put a pizza in the oven for a late dinner.
As the pizza was cooking, we sat down together in front of the roaring fire. This is when Kraig proposed! It was honestly the most perfect proposal, and the best way to start one of our favorite weekends.
The next day, we made a big breakfast, soaking in our new relationship status – cue the *fiancé titles*. We spent the rest of the morning on a hike at Bond Falls, enjoying the beautiful fall weather and changing of colors. When we got back, we called our families and close friends to share our exciting news. The amount of love on this day was overwhelming, in the best way!
Kraig invited our families up for the weekend (another surprise!), which was such a special touch. We spent the remainder of the weekend sitting around the fire, watching Grumpy Old Men, playing pool, and eating good food. My sister even gifted us with The Dean’s sign above, without knowing Kraig was proposing! It was truly the most amazing weekend. Kraig couldn’t have planned a more perfect proposal.
Let the wedding planning begin! 🤍
