The ultimate guide to restaurants and things to do in Chicago, the Windy City.
Chicago is known for its bold architecture, mobster history, and Chicago-style food. It’s hands down one of my favorite cities.
Like many places in the big city, places get crowded. I highly recommend viewing each website and calling for reservations as need. Some restaurants are booked out months in advance – be sure to plan ahead.
Yolk – the perfect place for breakfast or brunch.
3 Arts Club Café at RH Chicago – if you don’t have reservations, arrive early to get a table!
Cindy’s Rooftop – best rooftop dining in Chicago – do you see that view?
Aba – a Mediterranean inspired restaurant located in the Fulton Market District.
Giordano’s – Chicago’s famous deep dish pizza – a must try!
Soho House – located in the Fulton Market District.
Beatnik on the River – a bohemian styled restaurant with a cool view of the Chicago River.
Raised – another fun rooftop bar in Chicago with beautiful views.
London House – I highly recommend visiting in the summer for a stunning birds-eye view of the river. London House is also the hotel we usually stay at due to the perfect location.
Château Carbide – located on the rooftop of Pendry Chicago.
Superdawg Drive-In – can’t visit Chicago without having a Chicago-style hot dog!
Franklin Room – the Chicken Roulade is absolutely amazing!
Sushi-San – a variety of sushi and binchotan roasted meats to choose from!
RL Chicago – signature dishes and seasonal specials served in a stunning atmosphere.
Spend some time shopping on the Magnificent Mile. While in the area, stop to view The Bean in Millennium Park. Just be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes as you will get lots and lots of steps in.
Go on a tour at the Art Institute of Chicago.
Go to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, or a Bulls or Blackhawks game at the United Center.
Take your photo on the Skydeck Chicago at Willis Tower.
Visit Lincoln Park for a cool view of the city’s skyline and walk through Lincoln Park Zoo – it’s free!
Get a tour of the city from a new perspective on a day cruise to view the spectacular architecture.
Grab a sweet treat at the Doughnut Vault or Sprinkles for the cupcake ATM.
Enjoy a picnic with stunning views at North Avenue Beach on a hot summer day.
Check out all the different restaurants and bars in the Fulton Market District and Wicker Park.
If you’re visiting Chicago during the holiday season, you need to stop at the Walnut Room for a specialty beverage and a stunning view of their Christmas tree. You can sit at the bar as it is first come, first served. However, get there early, as waiting time does get long.
