A registered dietitian’s guide to purchasing high quality coffee, including the top four reasons why and recommended brands.
I’ve always been a huge fan of coffee. There’s just something so relaxing about enjoying a cup of coffee first thing in the morning, before the day gets started. However, like many foods and beverages you purchase, I highly recommend reviewing the source and quality of the coffee, to reduce the consumption of chemicals and pesticides that may be present.
When purchasing coffee, be sure to research the brand to determine if they follow these practices:
When you purchase organic coffee that has been rigorously tested for mold, mycotoxins and pesticide residue, you are purchasing coffee that doesn’t contain health-harming chemicals.
It’s better for the environment, as the farmers use sustainable practices that have been proven to reinvigorate the biodiversity within the soil. Have you heard of regenerative agriculture?
Without the use of chemicals, the health and lives of the coffee farmers, producers, growers, suppliers, and consumers tend to be healthier.
You can taste the difference! High quality coffee will have a smooth balance between sweet, bitter and acidic flavors.
